But Mermaids Don’t Have Thigh Gaps

A thigh gap; being able to stand with your feet touching and not have your inner thighs touch; associated with being “skinny”. I think we all at one point wanted that iconic thigh gap. I mean who wouldn’t!? We have all tried to look up the different exercises to work out our inner thighs, “6 Exercises for Thigh Gap”, “The thigh-gap workout” or try this diet, do that, blah blah blah. What if I told you though that no matter how many exercises you do or how much you try and diet, you will never achieve this thigh gap? Before you get discouraged, let me explain!!

What many people don’t know is that a thigh gap has to do with your genetics, the structure of your pelvic bone, the width of your hips, and your adductor muscles (muscles in your inner thigh). The more rounded your pelvic bone is, the more likely you will have a natural thigh gap. The more widely set hipbones you have, the more likely you will have a natural thigh gap. A combination of a rounded hipbone and widely set hipbones just means you probably have a better chance of not having your adductor muscles touch, since they are fairly large muscles.

What I am trying to say is if you have a natural thigh gap, you are beautiful. If you don’t have a natural thigh gap, you are beautiful. Don’t risk your health trying to diet to achieve a thigh gap. If you’re still convinced the definition of “skinny” or “beautiful” is a model with a thigh gap (probably due to unhealthy dieting), just remember, mermaids don’t have thigh gaps either. “If your thighs touch, you’re one step closer to being a mermaid, so who’s the real winner here?” ;)
